According to doctors, pharmacy care plays a significant role.

The pharmacy care is a supplementary healthcare service that is receiving increasing attention in the medical community. This service aims not only to improve patients’ health status but also to strengthen collaboration between pharmacists and physicians. Pharmacy care can effectively support the work of doctors and contribute to increasing patients’ awareness.

Although many are familiar with the concept, detailed knowledge and experience are still lacking. There are varying opinions among physicians, and interest in pharmacy care is also inconsistent. In the medical profession, there are approaches that consider pharmacy care an integral part of patient care, while others still treat its effectiveness with skepticism.

The importance of pharmacy care could be particularly significant in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, which is one of the greatest challenges in public health. Surveys indicate that the role of pharmacists in screenings and patient education is essential for effective patient care.

Awareness of Pharmacy Care Among Physicians

The knowledge of the concept of pharmacy care among physicians presents a mixed picture. Among the surveyed physicians, only 22% know precisely what the term means, while 52% are only partially familiar with it. It is thought-provoking that 15% of physicians have heard of pharmacy care but do not know what it entails. There is no significant difference in the awareness of the concept between general practitioners and specialists.

Those physicians who are familiar with the concept agree that pharmacy care increases patients’ awareness and simultaneously assists physicians in their work. More than 50% of respondents support this statement, suggesting that pharmacy care may contribute to patients being more actively involved in managing their own health.

It is important to note that opinions regarding pharmacy care are generally more positive among specialists, while more neutral opinions have been expressed among general practitioners. This difference may arise from the more specific experiences of specialists, whereas general practitioners encounter a broader spectrum of patients.

The Role of Cardiovascular Diseases

One of the most important roles of pharmacy care lies in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. 49% of responding physicians highlighted the importance of cardiovascular screenings as the greatest advantage of pharmacy care. The second most important area is diabetes, which also represents a significant proportion among the respondents.

Cardiovascular diseases, such as heart attacks or cerebrovascular disorders, are serious health problems that affect a large part of the population. The prevention process is therefore crucial, and within the framework of pharmacy care, pharmacists can actively participate in conducting screenings.

Pharmacy care plays an important role not only in screenings but also in patient education. The enlightening activities of pharmacists can help patients manage their health more consciously, thus reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Physicians’ Experiences with Pharmacy Care

Physicians’ experiences with pharmacy care are generally mixed. Among those who have encountered “pharmacy cared” patients, 45% feel that the service has assisted their work. However, many have not experienced any positive or negative effects, indicating that the assessment of pharmacy care’s effectiveness may be subjective.

Opinions regarding the effectiveness of screenings vary among physicians. Some consider them extremely effective, while others are less optimistic. Among general practitioners, the assessments are generally more favorable, which may stem from direct experiences.

The medical assessment of pharmacy care is therefore a complex issue that depends on various factors. It is essential that communication among pharmacists, physicians, and patients is strengthened so that pharmacy care can truly become an integral part of patient care.

Research Background

The research related to this topic was conducted through an online questionnaire survey involving 325 physicians. The sample is not representative but represents various medical specialties. 66% of the physicians are general practitioners, while 34% are specialists, and the demographic distribution among respondents is also diverse. The aim of the research was to explore opinions and experiences regarding pharmacy care, which could be crucial for future developments.

This research has provided an opportunity for the professional community to better understand the role of pharmacy care in healthcare and to facilitate the more effective integration of the service into patient care.
