Swedish public health research confirms the benefits of mammography

Duffy, emphasized that the effects of screening became particularly evident after 10 years, and at the end of the study, mortality in the mammography group was reduced by 30% compared to the control group.

This research clearly shows that mammography is not just a screening procedure but a life-saving tool whose effects can be felt in the long term. Screening thus plays a key role in the early detection of the disease and contributes to the protection of women’s health.

Additionally, the issue of overdiagnosis arises, but according to the Swedish study, this occurred only in a small fraction of cases.

It is important to note that mammography does not replace regular medical check-ups and self-examinations, which are also essential for the prevention and early detection of breast cancer. Appropriate screening programs and increased awareness are crucial for ensuring that a larger proportion of women participate in screenings, thereby reducing mortality caused by the disease.
